The Story Began in Tekken

Tekken 6The story of Tekken began in the final round of competition at a worldwide martial arts tournament, where the fighter who can defeat the master Heihachi Mishima will win a great deal of money. This high-stakes contest has been sponsored by Mishima Zaibatsu, a giant financial group.

The original Tekken fighting includes only 8 characters, who are the fighters trying to defeat Heihachi Mishima. Each of the eight have qualified for this worldwide competition by winning death matches around the world. The fighter who can defeat Heihachi will be awared the title of The King of the Iron Fists.

Tekken 2 Continued the Story

During the worldwide martial arts tournament (introduced in Tekken, above), sponsored by the giant financial groups, the Mishima Zaibatsu, many battles were fought. But only the warrior Kazuya, son of the champion Heihachi Mishima, was powerful and cold-blooded enough to emerge with the right to challenge Heihachi Mishima for the title of King of the Iron Fists.

The son is who the father raised him to be. Kazuya bears a bodily scar, given to him by Heihachi. He also bears the scars on his soul as he fights a grueling battle against his own father, on the very same field on which the father, Heihachi, once battered 5-year old Kazuya and dropped him in a trench.

Kazuya eventually uses all the fighting skills passed down through the generations of the Mishima clan in order to kill his father and stand victorious over the broken body. In a moment of spiritual revenge, Kazuya drops his father’s body over the same cliff where once Heihachi left the child Kazuya to die.

A year passes, during which Kazuya disappears into the shadows and is rumored to be using a dark force to gain immense power that slowly spreads throughout across the lands. One more year on, an announcement goes out around the world from the dark Mishima Zaibatsu fortress: a second Tekken will be held, with a prize a thousand times that of the first.

So begins the Tekken 2 tournament…

As We Enter Tekken 3

As Tekken 2 draws to a close, we begin to encounter the ghostly, devilish, and mysterious in the world of Tekken. Jun Kazama realizes that Kazuya Mishima’s strength comes from Devil. Meanwhile, the thought-to-be dead Heihachi Mishima returns to reclaim The King of Iron Fist championship by killing the son who killed Heihachi the year before. Heihachi also continues the Mishima tradition of throwing dead family bodies about, by throwing Kazuya’s body into a volcano.

Kazuya’s burning body releases the devil, who tries to find new life in the fetal son of Kazuya, being carried by the pregnant Jun Kazama. However, as a fierce mother-to-be, Jun defeats the Devil and hides in the country to raise Kazuya’s son, Jin, alone, as far from the Mishima empire as it’s possible to get.

In control of this empire, Heihachi appears to be trying to do good (while still increasing his powers) over the next 15 years. He puts wars and conflicts to rest. He takes a strong interest in the well being of developing nations by helping them build agricultural systems . Heihachi’s efforts appear to spread peace throughout the world.

Unfortunately, peace goes awry when a mysterious life form, Toshin, is excavated from a Central American archaeological site and kills everything around it. Heihachi is wracked by sorrow, but also realizes that the power of the mysterious life form could be the key to his long dormant dream of world domination.

World events quickly make it clear that Toshin is killing the world’s greatest warriors, to obsorb their strenghts. Jun Kazama, once a warrior so great she defeated the Devil, senses that a strong enemy is stalking her. She tells her 15-year old son, Jin everything she knows of their haunted past and instructs Jin to go to his grandfather Heihachi if anything happens to Jun.

Jun soon dies at the hands of Toshin (despite Jin’s efforts to fight the evil force that’s after his mother), and Jin goes to Heihachi and to be trained in the Mishima fighting ways so he can exact revenge.

Heihachi plots to attract Toshin by gathering together the world’s greatest fighters all in one place: The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3. Four years later, on Jin Kazama’s 19th birthday, The King of Iron Fist Tournament 3 begins.

Rejoining at the Story at Tekken 4

After failing to capture Ogre years ago, Heihachi Mishima attempts to Frankenstein himself a clone Ogre, but again he fails. Heihachi’s bioengineers tell their boss that they need to splice in the Devil Gene in order to mix Ogre genes with an existing organism. Where to get some Devil Gene? From Jin Kazama, the ever-popular Tekken 3 Ogre-defeater and son of a Devil-defeating mother and once Devil-possessed father.

At the end of the Tekken 3 King of Iron Fist Tournament, Jin showed he “had the devil in him” when he escaped being killed by transforming into the Devil, striking down his nemesis and grandfather, Heihachi, and disappearing.

In pursuit of Jin and the Devil Gene, the oft-distracted Heihachi found what he believed to be a picture of Kazuya, the Devil-possessed son he murdered and tossed in a volcano 20 years past. In the picture, Kazuya’s in the form of a burned corpse with crispy wings on his back.

Heihachi discovered that G Corporation had possession of Kazuya’s winged corpse and was using it to create a new life form. Planning to get him some of that, Heihachi sends his formidable Tekken Force to one G Corp lab, while Heihachi infiltrates another, where Kazuya’s remains were preserved. In fact, they’re preserved so well, that who emerges from the facility during Heihachi’s raid? You guessed it: Kazuya himself.

Kazuya has been a willing participant in letting G Corporation try to identify the Devil that possessed him. Kazuya, as power hungry as his father, believed that if he unified his body with the Devil, he could harness its Devilish powers and wreak major havoc on Heihachi and the Mishima Zaibatsu (Financial Empire). In the face of Heihachi’s raid and discovery, Kazuya escapes and takes his Devil gene with him.

Heihachi knows just how to bring Kazuya out of hiding. These Mishima boys can never resist a good King of Iron Fist Tournament. The Mishima Zaibatsu announce The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4 and offer a top prize that they know Kazuya will do anything for. The champion who manages to defeat Heihachi at the end of the Tekken 4 would inherit the Mishima Zaibatsu.

Even knowing that the Tekken is a trap, Kazuya comes to play anyway, as Heihachi knew he would. Revenge overpowers common sense in the Mishima men, and Kazuya can’t pass up his chance to defeat Heihachi. But will Jin Kazama show up too, lured by the same bait? You bet!

What Takes Us to Tekken 5?

As Tekken 4, The King of Iron Fist Tournament 4, drew to a close, Kazuya and Jin Kazama beats his father, Kazuya Mishima, enraging Kazuya’s consistently non-supportive father, Heihachi. Jin then takes on his unpleasant paternal grandfather, defeating and almost killing him. At the final moment, Jin gets his emotions under control and flies off on his black gift-from-the-Devil wings, leaving Heihachi alive … some would say foolishly.

With nary a moment to invent excuses as to why his defeat isn’t his fault, Heihachi is suddenly attacked by planes full of an army of Jacks. Kazuya fights the Jacks by his father’s side for a time, but then throws his father to the wolves Jacks. Seeing Heihachi thrown into a graveyard by an enormous explosion, a man dressed in black reports that “Heihachi Mishima is dead…”

Most people believed that Heihachi’s death would bring the end of the Mishima Zaibatsu, evil financial empire, but behind the scenes someone else had taken control, and the world-domination business went on as usual.

A month later, it was announced that the Mishima Zaibatsu will hold the next King of Iron Fist Tournament, Tekken 5. And the battle begins.

What will happen to those who survive to Tekken 6?!
