Tekken 2
The story of Tekken began in the final round of competition at a worldwide martial arts tournament, where the fighter who can defeat the master Heihachi Mishima will win a great deal of money. This high-stakes contest has been sponsored by Mishima Zaibatsu, a giant financial group.
The original Tekken fighting includes only 8 characters, who are the fighters trying to defeat Heihachi Mishima. Each of the eight have qualified for this worldwide competition by winning death matches around the world. The fighter who can defeat Heihachi will be awared the title of The King of the Iron Fists.
Tekken 2 Continued the Story
During the worldwide martial arts tournament (introduced in Tekken, above), sponsored by the giant financial groups, the Mishima Zaibatsu, many battles were fought. But only the warrior Kazuya, son of the champion Heihachi Mishima, was powerful and cold-blooded enough to emerge with the right to challenge Heihachi Mishima for the title of King of the Iron Fists.
The son is who the father raised him to be. Kazuya bears a bodily scar, given to him by Heihachi. He also bears the scars on his soul as he fights a grueling battle against his own father, on the very same field on which the father, Heihachi, once battered 5-year old Kazuya and dropped him in a trench.
Kazuya eventually uses all the fighting skills passed down through the generations of the Mishima clan in order to kill his father and stand victorious over the broken body. In a moment of spiritual revenge, Kazuya drops his father’s body over the same cliff where once Heihachi left the child Kazuya to die.
A year passes, during which Kazuya disappears into the shadows and is rumored to be using a dark force to gain immense power that slowly spreads throughout across the lands. One more year on, an announcement goes out around the world from the dark Mishima Zaibatsu fortress: a second Tekken will be held, with a prize a thousand times that of the first.
So begins the Tekken 2 tournament…
Tekken 2 Reviews
5 Stars Tekken II Review
This game is a classic, and the best version overall in the series in my view. What I enjoy most is that there are some ‘unbalances’ within the game that make it challenging and give it a deep variety that you do not see in the more modern versions (which are trying too hard to make everyone ‘equal’ and ‘fair’, which is stupid and boring). I love Armor King (for example), and his double super knuckle bomb (waaa! unfair!), or doing his ten-hit and finishing with a super knuckle bomb (waaa!): Instant death. Other things like Paul having a reversal is loads of fun (one of the few in Tekken 2 that does), or Bruce Irving being limited by not having a 9 or 10 hit combo, but not needing them as he is a solid fighter without those. That’s what makes playing Tekken 5 somewhat boring to me; everyone is so balanced it is like a chess game (pick a color, does not matter much). In the PC world, it would be similar to Supreme Commander versus Command and Conquer III: when you are ready for real strategy with artillery units that shoot 20 screens across and nuclear missiles that blow *everything* off the screen and beyond, buy Supreme Commander. Otherwise stay with ‘rock paper scissors’ type games that are ’safe and fair’ (C&C 3, Age of Empires, StarCraft, ect…sad but true).
5 Stars Tekken 2 Or Bust
Well, I just recently bought this game again, after finding it broken from unkown causes quite a few years ago. People keep on saying, “Tekken 2 has HORRIBLE graphics and the gameplay is horrible!”, To those people, did you ever think that this game came out during the 90’s and was probably awesome graphics back then? If you’re a fan of good fighting games, I reccomend this. It has lots of characters, fair graphics, and is a good collectible for your Tekken collection.
5 Stars Great Fun
I really like playing this game with my son. He has so much fun with it.
4 Stars Skippy
the cd worked for about 4 days and then…BAM!! it was skipping like crazy, it froze wen i picked Jack-2 or Kunimitsu, and now it wont come on at all.IT WAS A PRETTY CRAPPY COPY
5 Stars Tekken 2… Best Tekken and game of all time
Many advancements over the first Tekken. Fantastic characters, wonderful music/backgrounds, superior gameplay… what more can you ask for? My favorite character is definitely Kunimitsu. She has a dagger, an awesome cat mask, and is a female Yoshimitsu. Playing games for 14-15 years… couldn’t be playing a better game!

Following his victory in the previous tournament, Jin Kazama has taken charge of the Mishima Zaibatsu and now possesses tyrannical ambitions. Using his resources within the organization to become a global superpower, he severs the Mishima Zaibatsu’s national ties and openly declares war against all nations. This action plunges the world into a chaotic spiral, with war erupting around the globe and even amidst the space colonies orbiting the planet.
Kazuya Mishima, is aware of this and finds Jin’s interference in his own plans for global domination to be a nuisance. Now in charge of G Corporation (which was put under his command following a violent fury against the company’s heads), Kazuya is seen as the only force who could oppose Jin and places a bounty on Jin’s head for anyone who can capture him. Jin’s response is to announce The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 in order to battle Kazuya and crush G Corporation.
